21 Days of Prayer for Sons

Warrior Prayers
This month I am participating in 21 days of Prayer for Sons. I have committed to praying every weekday specifically for our sons in various areas. And I have discovered something. It's hard. And I'm not the only one that thinks so. Many of the other Moms have been expressing their hardships. Failures if you will. And obstacles. So I would like to offer some encouragement if I may. Praying specific prayers everyday is not easy. I would go so far as to say it is not natural. My natural tendency is to please myself. Fullfill my selfish desires.
"For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out." Romans 7:18

But there is hope!! I may not be able to carry out what is good, but my God can.

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, behold, all things have become new." 2 Corinthians 5:17

Moms! That is amazing! It is not from me that I am required to find the strength, the time, the capacity. It is from God that all things come. He made me new. He gives me the desire. It is His perfect strength that I can tarry on!

I have so much more to share. More ways to encourage. Please come back next week to see where God is leading next! Remember, this is not a sprint, we are in this for the long haul. These weren't called Warrior Prayers for nothing!

"And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness." Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me." 2 Corithians 12:9

  1. Yes, this has definitely been a challenge for me too, but so worth the effort. Thank you for such encouraging words. And thanks to our God whose grace is all-sufficient!

  5. You are so right! I have been reading through each link today and have seen two themes...one is that the parents taking part are finding themselves being changed by it. The other is that it is tough and some are struggling with doing it or at least with doing it "right". (I prayed the same topic all week - obedience - by accident, but truly providentially!) Thanks so much for sharing your encouragement and honesty on this!

  6. Beth - Thanks so much for your encouragement, both here and on my blog. You are exactly right! It doesn't have to come naturally for me . . . because "naturally" is me all by myself and i don't want that anyway! Thanks for the perspective!
